What does my company need to do to obtain the reduced rate of the levy?

The first step is to ascertain your company's energy usage for a recent 12 month period, along with the raw milk intake (or raw milk equivalent) and product output for that year. You will then need to go to the Register page and download the application forms.

Three agreements will underpin the climate levy arrangements:

  1. An agreement between DEFRA and Dairy Energy Savings Limited (a company set up by the Dairy UK to deal with climate change levy) ("the umbrella agreement").

  2. A pro-forma agreement between DEFRA and individual participating companies who wish to obtain the rebate ("the underlying agreement").

  3. An agreement between Dairy Energy Savings Limited ("DES") and individual participating companies dealing with the administrative arrangements and payment of Dairy Energy Savings Limited’s fees. ("The participation agreement").
