Who we are
Dairy Energy Savings Limited (DES)
is a company set up by Dairy UK to operate the dairy
sector Climate Change Agreement (CCA).
From 1 April 2001 the Government introduced an energy
tax, namely the Climate Change Levy.
This levy has added approximately 15 per cent to your
company energy bill per annum.
Milk processing companies can save 80% of this tax
by joining the DES scheme and agreeing to reduce their
relative energy consumption over time.
To date the agreement covers 130 processing sites from
76 companies, saving these companies approximately £4.75
million per annum.
All milk processing sites, regardless of size or Dairy
UK membership, are entitled to register with Dairy Energy
Savings Ltd.
